Kapadwanj is an ancient town of Gujarat, and the town is rich with places and practices of cultural and historical significance. These date from the Solanki era to the British era and it is necessary that these are preserved and put on the world map. Shrimati Vita Dani, Director of Dani Foundation has initiated the project to highlight this glorious past and make Kapadwanj a centre of attraction for all to see.
The heritage initiative of Dani Foundation has two major focus areas with “Kund Vav” being the centre of both.
1. The first focus area is restoring the magnificent “Kund Vav”. We wish to reclaim the lost glory of “Kund Vav” and also reinstall the lost pride of the Vav in community of Kapadwanj and beyond. We believe this will help us to achieve success in our second focus area.
2. The Second focus area of the Heritage Initiative is to create an ecosystem of tourist facilities around it to increase tourism in Kapadwanj and provide sustainable livelihoods. Kapadwanj has several famous religious places, architectural monuments and heritage properties to help with this initiative. Kapadwanj is also surrounded by several famous tourist spots and religious sites to help develop the tourist circuit.
Dani Foundation has collaborated with Kapadwanj Kelavani Mandal to be its partner.
Dani Foundation has also hired Atulya Varso, a reputed NGO to manage and plan the heritage initiative. Atulya Varso has years of experience in reigniting the community interest to restore and maintain heritage sites across Gujarat.
